Welcome to Dutch History Walking Tours. Founded in 2019 by a student of World Politics from Rotterdam, the company was established with the goal of creating an educational experience that leaves participants of the tours – whether they be tourists, expats, or otherwise interested people – with an informed view of the history of the Netherlands through a (first) acquaintance with a Dutch city. The mission of the tours is to give a wider, more nuanced, and more holistic view of the past of the Netherlands than is usually done in walking tours. In this way, the participants will be able to get more out of their stay in the Netherlands, and be able to place further experiences in the country into a wider perspective.
Stemming from the belief that the present can be better understood by knowing and understanding what preceded it, the information you will receive during the tour has been composed from a variety of (academic) sources. Unpleasant truths are not shied away from, as telling the full story and creating awareness of the past are highly valued goals at the company. Great care has been taken to provide participants with accurate information, but Dutch History Walking Tours cannot guarantee that no inaccuracies occur at all (which is partially due to the constantly evolving nature of historical knowledge).
